Formative Speech Pathology is a mobile paediatric speech therapy service supporting families across Bribie Island and surrounding areas.

We work with children in their most familiar environments—whether that’s at home, in childcare, or at school. Our sessions are play-based, goal-focused, and always tailored to your child’s unique strengths and needs.

Each child receives individualised, child-led therapy that’s engaging, developmentally appropriate, and designed to build meaningful progress over time.

But we know that the most powerful communication growth happens between children and the people who know them best.

That’s why a core part of our approach is parent coaching. We don’t just work with your child—we work with you. Our goal is to equip you with the tools, strategies, and confidence to support your child’s communication every day, in ways that feel natural and manageable.

We use trusted, research-backed programs to guide our work, including:

• The Lidcombe Program – for young children who stutter
• The Hanen It Takes Two to Talk Program – for supporting children with language delays through everyday interactions

These programs are designed to help you become your child’s most effective communication partner, using practical strategies during daily routines like mealtime, play, and getting ready for bed.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Bianca-Anne Ward, founder of Formative Speech Pathology.

I started this service to give families more flexible, meaningful support—especially when it comes to helping parents feel confident in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher.

With a background in speech and hearing sciences and psychological science, I’ve worked across the not-for-profit, government, and private sectors in both Australia and the UK. My experience spans a wide range of speech and language needs, with a strong focus on early intervention.

What drives me is building real, lasting progress through close collaboration with families. I believe in meeting families where they’re at—both literally and emotionally. Every child is different, and every family has its own rhythm. I’m here to support you with clear goals, practical tools, and warm, personalised guidance every step of the way.
